Heavy MAGA Meltdown

So this is what hope feels like.

It's hardly been over a week since the Biden campaign announced he'd be stepping aside, and already the momentum shift in favor of the Democrats feels like it's turning into a steamroller. Nothing that the pundits were predicting or worrying about has come true. Everything that the Trump campaign was so vigorously patting themselves on the back for has turned to shit in their hands. And the Harris campaign has launched flawlessly, and in a natural, powerful way that has energized millions and millions of people, and shows no sign of letting up.

It's like being in a small, airless room, where everyone’s been struggling to keep their eyes open for so long there was too much brain fog to even realize just how little oxygen there was. And then suddenly all the windows have been thrown wide open, and life is rushing back into the bloodstream.

No need to recount the individual factors and performances which led to the stunning reversal of fortune of this past week’s events. The display of sudden and shocking skillfulness of a new and united Democratic front of younger leadership has only been eclipsed in the news cycle by a steady stream of idiotic blunders and pathetic flailing from a suddenly very inept and incompetent Trump campaign.  The clips are being aired ad nauseam on YouTube, and will be relived in history for generations to come, as we watch that history unfold around us in real time.

It's nothing short of a Lord of the Rings caliber fight between not just two political parties, but between two opposing sides of the human spirit. And after watching the side of truth and decency, and progress and empathy, ceding ground for so long, it’s no wonder that there’s an electricity in the air as a new cavalry has arrived to come to its defense, and has taken it’s enemies completely off guard.

That's what it feels like, anyways. It's hard not to see anything but positives for team blue between here and November, and nothing but a growing dumpster fire for team red. Every infotainment channel has its own brand of agenda and bias, of course, and there’ll always be some spin.  But in the last 10 days Fox has revealed itself in even starker terms what it always has been – a 24 hours infomercial for the Republican party, and Donald Trump.

Which makes it all the more satisfying to watch as celebrity pundits twist and contort themselves on TV, trying to pretend like everything is fine, while grasping at whatever straw they can to not betray the fear they have that the high watermark for MAGA came and went just a few days earlier at the RNC. But right now it’s all hands on deck, as they know that whatever downward shit spiral this flotilla of greed and grossness they helped create is a ride they’re going to have to take as well.
